Twitter: How to gain followers
  1. Build a ZenonOrg tagged profile This acts like your homepage. When you interact with someone new on Twitter, the first they'll do is checkout your Twitter page. You must be presented in a way which makes you an attractive profile to follow. We recommend the following steps:

    1. Get a #ZNNGlyph-like avatar made.

    2. Update your name to include "| ZenonOrg" i.e. "mehowz | ZenonOrg". This shows association to a professional ecosystem organization.

    3. Write a descriptive bio of your role in the ZenonOrg i.e. "Contributing to ZenonOrg by building audience lists for HyperGrowth teams".

  2. Research and target the right audience To attract the right followers, you must understand what they want to read and what they’re interested in learning more about. We recommend the following steps along-with Circleboom, Followerwonk and Tweet Deck accounts to research Twitter audiences:

    1. Pay attention to who they follow:

      1. Revisit their profiles to track and trace the lines that connect them and their content to the people they follow.

      2. Investigate the social networks they and the people they follow have a presence on. What kinds of content do they engage with most often? Who do they retweet, and what tweets do they like? Get to know your target market!

    2. Follow the people they follow:

      1. Trace the lines of influence back to as close to the source as possible. Understand who they trust and follow them. This will help you build credibility and begin to mark you as a fellow influencer.

    3. Consider your potential follower’s interests, values, and needs:

      1. Tailor your content accordingly. When they follow someone new, check out their profile— see if you can find what your target liked about that profile and what value they might gain from following them.

      2. Learn from all the above and apply this knowledge to improve your tweets.

      3. Pretty soon, you’ll begin to draw attention from your target audience. At this point, it’s time to begin the next phase of your strategy.

  3. Engage and retain followers One of the easiest ways to get someone to follow you on Twitter is to visit their profile and hit the “Follow” button. This will notify them that you’re following them, and they might decide to follow you back. But following them isn’t enough – you must engage with their content.

    1. Tweet something interesting or provocative to grab their attention:

      1. One way to engage with them is to respond to their tweets using the “Reply” button.

      2. Use the ZenonOrg Attribute Link Builder to contextualize ZenonOrg landing pages / content in your tweets (if relevant), using the same steps above in point 1.4. (but replace "Twitter Bio" with something descriptive to the tweet so that you can later identify the traffic which clicks on that one particular tweet's link (make it unique).

    2. Mention them in your meaningful and relevant tweets:

      1. Insert their username into a tweet preceded by the “@” symbol (e.g., “@username”). This will notify them that you’ve mentioned them, which might encourage them to check out your profile.

    3. Use hashtags and keywords related to their interests:

      1. Another strategy is to use industry hashtags and keywords related to their interests. This will increase the chances of your tweets showing up in their feed.

      2. If you want to catch their attention, try retweeting some of their most interesting posts. This is a compliment they’re sure to appreciate, and very few humans ignore sincere flattery.

      3. But remember, you’re not just there to follow them. Your goal is to get them to follow you.

    4. Try tweeting at them when they have just tweeted:

      1. This way, you know they are online, and your tweet will be at the top of their list.

    5. Don’t be afraid to be a little bold in your tweets:

      1. If you catch their attention with something interesting or provocative, they’re more likely to follow you.

  4. Collaborate Now you’ve built a mutual relationship, and they’ve decided to follow you back and build value into the relationship. Engage in discussion with them, and continue to reply, respond, and promote them. The respect you will receive in return from your influential follower’s retweets and replies can massively impact the success of your account.
